In Every Administration's Last Days: A Silver Lining

It seems that in the last few months of every administration, when they know they are going soon, when all campaign promises and obligations have been either fulfilled or thwarted, when there's no more use for spin or even party ideology, when there's nothing left but to think about their legacy and how they will be remembered, one actual altruistic policy is attempted.

With Clinton, it was a real effort to broker an Israeli / Palestinian peace agreement.

With Bush, it may just be his lifeline to save the American auto industry.

Nice gesture. Too bad, however, it doesn't make up for this.
